In the pickle...

Coming back from AWANA tonight, Audrey was telling me about the story from large group time. It was about when Daniel had to interpret Nebuchadnezzar's dream after none of the king's other wise men were able. Daniel didn't know what it meant. So Audrey told me he prayed to God from a pickle - "God I'm in a pickle. I don't know what this dream means..." - asking for help in knowing what the dream meant.

So we talked a litte about figures of speech - "biting off more than you can chew", "caught red-handed", "in over your head", and "the writing on the wall". I was telling Audrey about another time when Daniel had to interpret a message from God, but Audrey couldn't get how God wrote on the wall, so that's her bedtime story tonight.

Also while driving, she saw some of the old metal electrical power transmission towers and said they looked like the Eiffel Tower. I was explaining that the Eiffel Tower is bigger (a lot) and mentioned that it's like a sky scraper. And she pipes up "like the two big buildings that airplanes ran into and a lot of people got killed. The ones that are water holes now?"

So she knows about 9-11.

Apparently, she remembered from when we watched something on TV about the construction of the 9-11 Memorial.

Amazing what your kids learn and remember when you're not paying attention or even trying to "teach".
