Enviro-nuts

I was reading Slate today (slate.com) and they had another "touching" article from the resident tree-hugger questioning the earth friendliness of traditional Christmas tree lights. "Not again", I thought. They had one up last week debating whether a fake or real Christmas tree was more environmentally friendly. These people are nuts. The Earth may or may not be warming (current trends actually show a net cooling since 1998 but please don't tell Al Gore), and it may or may not be "our" fault, but SERIOUSLY! Christmas trees and incandescent vs. LED lights?!?

A link in the article led you to an article from The Jerusalem Post discussing the furor that had arisen when Israeli scientists had shown that burning your average candle completely produces 15 grams (15 GRAMS - OY VEY!!!) of CO2. The scientists, politely of course, wondered if during Hanukkah this year, could observant Jews please prevent "serious damage" to the environment by leaving a menora candle unlit?

Well, I know what I'm doing with my Christmas money - I'm buying myself a rowboat, a case or two of CLIF® BAR energy bars and I'm going to await Y2K, er...I mean global warming, er...climate change, er...what are we calling it now?

P.S. I'd get some water, but with the rising sea levels I don't think that'll be necessary.
